This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work closely with managers and senior leaders, influence decision-making, and help strengthen the financial sustainability of a diverse rural council.
The Management Accountant | Budgeting and Analysis plays a key role in delivering high-quality financial analysis, advice and reporting across the organisation. You will work as a business partner across Council, supporting stronger financial capability and better decision-making at all levels.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, values influence, and wants to apply their technical capability in a practical and visible way.
About you:You are technically strong, commercially aware and confident working across an organisation.
You can analyse financial information, identify issues and opportunities, and turn complex data into clear and practical advice. You are comfortable partnering with non-finance managers, improving financial understanding, and supporting better decisions across a broad and operationally diverse environment.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- demonstrated experience in management accounting, including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- strong analytical capability and the ability to provide meaningful financial insights to support decision-making
- experience preparing financial models, reports and commentary for managers and senior stakeholders

- high attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- strong proficiency in Excel and financial systems
Experience in Civica Authority is highly regarded.
Membership, or eligibility for membership, with CPA Australia or CA ANZ will be well regarded, as will experience in local government or public sector finance. Experience coaching or training non-financial staff in budgeting and reporting will also be highly regarded.
We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every requirement listed. If you can demonstrate relevant capability, sound judgement and the ability to add value in the role, we encourage you to apply.
